Holy update, Batman!!

So I figured it was about time for me to update. I absolutely fail at keeping this damn thing up-to-date.

Okay, so to start with, I'm now working. I got a job as a content monitor at Lavalife. So basically, I make sure that everything that is posted online and on the txt msg service and recorded on the phone service is within the guidelines. This includes pictures and profiles, both in English and Spanish, but not messages between members. It's actually really surprising how many people can't follow simple rules. I've also found out that good spelling is a rarity amongst North Americans.

And holy shit, can people not speak at all. The phone service is where you hear some of the best stuff. We have two different phone services: Night Exchange and Lavalife. Night Exchange is exactly what it sounds like. It's for people who want to find people to hook up with. There are definitely people on here who have no limits and are pretty out there. Lavalife is different. There are three different categories: Relationship, Dating, and Intimate. Relationship is for long-term, and people range from normal to crazy ("I'm looking for my soul mate," "We'll live happily ever after," and so on). Dating is for anything from people looking for friends, for someone to go out to movies or bowling with, and so on. And then there's Intimates. So there's a few sub-categories in this one: Singles seeking singles, Singles seeking intimate encounter, Singles seeking couples, Couples seeking singles, Couples seeking couples, Attached seeking singles, Singles seeking attached, Attached seeking discreet intimate encounter, Bi-curious, Domination and Submission, and Fetishes. Yeah, you can just tell what kinda of people you find one this one.

And for some reason, everyone in those categories says the same thing wrong. I can't figure out why they all say they're light or dark skinded or complected. Do people even know what they're saying??? It drives me nuts!!

Anyways, here's a few of the funny ones from both the web and the phone line. I'll try to keep the original spelling, but I may have altered it when I copied it down, sorry:
- I live alone, I sells cars in USA am the owner of my cars sell company. and single.
- Just like to meet a women....with a goal for long term relations in harmony and fun to with around my age. slim or athletic
- I am Rakesh and I want to make girl friend for a night..I also like the hot girls
- I want to diet with more girls, I didnt do sex with ladies till now......I want to see your hole body without dress on
- Dear God, In the end, please send me a powerfully feminine woman. Best if she is formally educated, prosperous in outlook and fun.
- I hate cops. They don't believe in fairy tales.
- I like all kinds of things. Like cool things, and wicked things.
- I am looking for serious relations for family creation.

Yeah, people are just awesome. And I think those are all from only two or three shifts.

All this makes for some interesting conversations at work. I'm pretty sure in most workplaces you can't have a huddle with three of the supervisors and debate if "slut" and "whore" are derogatory or if they should be allowed, and if they should be allowed, then under what circumstances. Also, whether or not "cunt" is appropriate in any way at all. I'm pretty sure that this is also the only place where you have to know the difference between "group sex" and "orgy" (both allowed) and "gang bang" (not allowed). It's also the only place where you can learn sex terms you never knew you needed to know. For example, "circle jerk". That conversation went something like this:
Susana: Supervisor, what's a circle jerk?
Supervisor: It's when a bunch of guys stand in a circle and jerk themselves off. Gay guys do it.
Susana: Then why is a girl saying she wants guys who do that.
Supervisor: Well, some girls like to kneel in the middle and have guys cum all over their face....
Susana: Eww.
Supervisor: Yeah, I know. But she's looking for more than one guy, so it's not allowed on our server. Unless she wants to collect the guys one by one and ask them to cum on her face...

Yeah, that's a regular workday. Of course, this conversation was also being held in a regular volume in a quiet room. I've also discovered the value of Urban Dictionary.

On the plus side, it's becoming increasingly difficult to make me blush.

Anyways, moving on. So I've also joined the gym. I joined Premiere Fitness this time. And I'm hoping it'll be different this time. For starters, it's coming out of my account, so I'll feel it this time if I don't go and get charged for something I'm not using. Secondly, I'm paying for a specialized program in which I have to see a personal trainer twice a week and see a dietitian once a week. I also get a personalized meal plan. According to them, if I follow what they tell me, I should lose about 40 lbs in 3 months. If I manage to lose the 40 lbs, then they'll pay for the following three months (same program) so I can lose another 40 lbs. If I can lose 80 lbs (or close to it) in 6 months, they'll then use my pic for their ads and success stories posters. So I'm hoping it all goes according to plan, because that would mean that by next summer I'll be 80 lbs lighter. I'm so buying a whole new wardrobe!! Well, I'll kinda have to, since nothing will fit me. I also can't wait until I can wear my heels and cork sandals every day, I miss them.

So I'm also planning a big New Year's Eve party. I'm getting beer kegs and everything. The only thing I hate is that people who have said they're coming have put "maybe" on facebook. It drives me absolutely nuts that people do that. It makes it seem like there only 6 people coming (what facebook says), when I know so far there are at least double that. But when there are only a few people on the event, it makes other people not want to come because it looks like a small get-together instead of a big party. it also pisses me off that people have called rooms, but have put "maybe." So if you're not sure, why have you called a room??

I also have to start planning the Xmas dinner, which I know is going to be another headache. So I've decided to make my life easier for that one: if you don't tell me by the date I mentioned, you're left out, and it's not my problem. Also, it won't be my problem if you have nowhere to sleep, since I'm making it so that if you haven't said you're coming, then you can't call a room.

Actually, I think I'm gonna do that for New Year's too. It'll only be fair that those who confirmed their attendance get first dibs at a room. So I'll msg those that have called them and tell them they have to be confirmed, or they lose the rooms. There are a few guys from work coming too, and I'm not sure where I'm putting them.

That's another thing that's driving me crazy: the guys at work. It's almost like I'm some novelty for the Latin guys, since I'm the only single Latin girl there, and these are the kinds of guys that like dating Latin girls. But still, holy, calm down people!! I'm not gonna date you!!

And even more crazy, one of the guys at work keeps propositioning me for sex. He's also made it clear that if at any point I really want to have sex, just txt him and he'll meet me. Anytime, anywhere. He's also all for being my fuck buddy. It's both flattering and uncomfortable. I guess it's good to know he's there, though. You never know when you'll need to msg him!! Then again, he did promise to set me up with one of his friends, so we'll see how that goes.

So moving on. I've actually started writing my book. I already have two chapters online. It's not the fantasy one I'd started. I had to put that one aside for now. Instead, I'm working on a crime thriller, and I have some pretty good ideas for it. I also put up three short stories onto the site, and I'm really happy because people commented positively on them. They've also voted for them and put them as their faves. What makes me the happiest, though, is those people who have put me as favourite author, or have put me on alert, so they get an email or txt notice whenever I update a story or post a new one.

This is the site: http://www.textnovel.com/profile_view.php?user_id=7568 Feel free to go read the stories. There is a chance you might have to register to see them, but really, it takes like 2 minutes, and you know you want to read my stories and support them like a good friend!! So register!!

I'm not gonna write the synopsis for the short stories, but here's the one for the multi-chapter crime thriller, called "In The Midst Of Lies":
"When Kate Miller's best friend Ellen's death is ruled accidental, she doesn't believe it. Feeling that something isn't adding up, she convinces Det. Jason Lunievski to take a second look at the case. What they find leads them to a world of greed, power, and deception. But when the same people that cause Ellen's death target Kate and Jason, will they make it out alive?"
Sound good?? Go read!!

I'm also working on a Twilight fan fiction story. I've actually read thousands on fan fiction stories in the last year, and some of them are amazing!! I think I've got a good idea for mine, and I really hope it turns out well. I'd love it if people read it, and I'm hoping to get some sort of following for it. I've got an outline for about 30-32 chapters right now. I'll write it for a bit, and then post it. I'll update with the link once it's up, in case anyone wants to read it. It'd be great if I could at least have a few fans.

Okay, so this has gotten long, and I still have to type up the fan fic character sheets I've done. Also, I've got ideas for the next chapter of In The Midst of Lies, so I should get on that. And I work tomorrow, so I should head to bed soon!!!

Anyways, go read my stories. They're something I love and am proud of, not necessarily because I think they're the best, but because I'm finally getting them out there. Even if they suck (which I really don't think they do, not too badly, at least), practice makes perfect, right?? They can only get better from here!!

Anyways, stopping now. Bye bye.

Yeah, I should update more often.

So I thought I'd update on what's been happening in my life.

First, I've been sick. This summer has not been all that great for me, health-wise. After my back finally got better, I started having sugar problems. I'd start feeling sick and dizzy and when I checked my sugar, it'd be super low. So I had to chug down lots of orange juice and pop. And then it started getting better, just in time for me to get a cold. And then from this cold I got vertigo, which was pretty bad. I could barely walk properly some days because the room was literally moving. Vertigo is worse than dizziness, because it doesn't just feel like the room is spinning a little, I actually see it move and I can't get it to stop moving. Yesterday it was actually really bad, but today has been really good, so I'm hoping that it's on it's way out.

As for work, I still haven't found anything yet. No one loves me, apparently.

I went to Sauble with my mom, Gaby, Ela, and Mike the other day. Thankfully it was one of my good vertigo days, so I was able to function. Sauble was good. I love the water there. And I got a nice tan. We're planning to go again, I think the weekend of the 15th. We might stay overnight, too, but I'm not sure yet.

And then there's my book. Obviously I had to put it off for a bit, since I really wasn't feeling well. Also, for some reason I decided to make a super detailed plot outline and then write to that, which of course imimidiately gave me writer's block. And then I thought about it and I realized that I never write like that. I kinda just start writing from the beginning, and keep going until I finish. With no outline, and really only a basic idea of where I want it to go. Some of the best ones that I've written are the ones that I didn't even really think about at first, just sat and wrote. Sometimes I don't know how it's going to end until I'm actually writing the end. So I think I kinda planned myself into a corner, as weird as that sounds. So I'm gonna throw out anything besides my basic plot idea and basic background work, and of course my lovely map, and start writing again. Just see where it goes, I guess. So hopefully it'll go better this time.

Anyways, that's it for my quick update.
Bye bye for now.

I hate coming up with titles.

So my back went out again. Apparently it happens when 3 of your disks are falling apart. It's super painful to walk or sit or lay down or move, but it's nothing new for me. It seems to happen once a year now, in the summer, when it gets really warm. Maybe I should move to Alaska?? I think it's the humidity that does it.

Anyways, so I'm currently handicapped. I spend most of the day in bed, but I do get up to walk around every do often, since it helps a bit. Hopefully it won't last too long. Well, at least i hope the worst part goes away soon.

So I've discovered Microsoft Office OneNote. I've decided that it's the best program ever. It's what I'm using to keep all the info for my story, and I love it. I have like 18 different tabs in two notebooks, and each tab has like 12 pages. Sounds kinda complicated, but seriously, it makes it so much easier to keep things organized.

Also, I've now managed to come up with the storyline for the first book. I've got the main plot points, beginning to end. I've also got an idea of where the second book will go. I've also got a secondary main plot that I'm gonna introduce in the second book, though I still have to work some of that out. But I've got a good idea of how the whole thing will end.

But yeah, so I've got the main plot. I'm now working on the smaller details. They're pretty important. It's kinda hard to write a scene if I'm not sure if there should be a hospital type setting, a private office, or if a healer should just make house calls. Also, I'm debating making my character a little younger I have them at 18, but I think I might move that down to 16. I'm still undecided. It changes the beginning a little, though, so I guess I should decide soon.

I've also got a few of the scenes floating around in my head. But I guess I need to decide their ages first, because I've got scenarios for both running around. I think I will change it, though. I think that having them be 18 is too old, at least at the beginning. They'd be expected to be married or at least engaged, and I'm not sure how getting a job would work. So yeah, 16 it is. Old enough to be mature and adult and responsible, but young enough to be kids and live at home.

Anyways, so I'm gonna go watch a movie now. Or maybe go to sleep. Or maybe write. For some reason, I get the best ideas and do the best work in the middle of the night. So maybe I'll work on it a little and then go to sleep.

Anyways, bye bye.

Everyone should get MuchMoreRetro.

So not much is new with the book. I mean, it's only been 24 hrs since I posted. Plus, I took a break from it and read a bit and started my laundry. And Ela came over, so I took a break and watched a movie. We watched Twister. Such a good movie. And we saw a countdown of the top 10 songs from a soundtrack. It was awesome. Seriously, we spent a good hour singing along to songs that are like 15 years old. It makes the music channel package on digital cable so worth the $7 a month.

I did change the map, though. There were some unnecessary land areas and one bay too many. So that had to change. I really should look into some sort of program that will let me make a digital map. It's a pain in the ass to draw a new one every time I change something. Plus, doing it digitally would allow me to also do a topographical map, which is way too much work for me to do by hand. Anyone know of any programs??

But holy shit, this takes a lot of work. Who would have thought that inventing a world is so time consuming?? Honestly, it gets a little complicated once I try to figure out all the different governments and laws and histories and tradition. But thankfully I managed to download the D&D Monster Manual. I was getting a little lost between all the mythical, fictional, and theological creatures that are out there in the Internet.

So I'm thinking of watching Supernatural. My brother has all the seasons, and I have season one sitting next to me. I kinda want to watch it, 'cause the guys are super hot, but I don't know if the show is any good. Should I watch it?? Maybe I should at least give the first disk a chance, see how it goes. Or at least one episode. I'll think about it.

Anyways, back to writing. Well, researching and creating. Not yet writing, really. But I have random pieces floating in my head, so I might just write them out and get them over with. I can always tweak them later if I need to. But then again, maybe I'm just scared to write it. I find researching comforting and safe, but if I write it, I kinda feel like I'm committed. Maybe I'm crazy?? Yeah, that's probably it.

Okie, bye bye.

Monday 13 July 2009

Aderin is where I live now.

So I'm writing a fantasy novel. I haven't really started writing it yet, but I've got a lot of the prep work done. It's taken quite a few days of almost non-stop work, but here's what I have so far:
  • I've invented a world. It's called Aderin. Six races live on it. The elves live on Evinthal.
  • I have a map for it. It's pretty.
  • I have 16 characters so far, though most of them are not as developed as I'd like.
  • I have the basic outline for both the main plot and the secondary plot.
  • I've sorted out all the races and their general abilities.
  • I have the family histories of my main characters.

There's still a million things I have to do, though. Finish the characters, finalize what life is like in their world, connect the smaller story ideas to the main one, and so on. I also have to plan out the end, because I plan to write more than one book. Also, I have to figure out how politics, commerce, education, medicine, laws, food, history, ans so many other things work for each race. And there's seven races. And come up with a few words in each of their languages, so I can use them throughout the story. And I need to come up with some creatures, both magical and non-magical.

And that's all before I start writing the actual story.

It's gonna take quite a bit of research. So much that I'm actually thinking of going to a library. The Internet is great and all, but I'd like a few more specialized books. I need to look into the middle ages, since I'm basing a lot of everyday life on it. I need a book on the medicinal uses of plants, since I'm definitely using that a lot. Also, medieval weapons are important, so I should look into those.

So far, the hardest has been coming up with names for my characters. You have no idea how hard it is to come up with names that don't sound like Mark or Steve. They have to be interesting sounding and not as common. Place names are also a pain in the ass. Holy shit, it's crazy to come up with names for cities, lakes, mountains, and forests. Thank god for websites and fantasy name generators!! Also, thank god that Nelson and Jack play fantasy games and suggested some names.

Funny enough, the map was the easiest. I just kinda took a paper and drew randomly. They I looked at it and just improved parts. Then I labeled it. It's not perfect or even set in stone yet, but working on it was definitely interesting.

I'm not even really sure if this book is gonna go anywhere. I may just write it and no one ever reads it. Maybe I type it and I never print it. But the way I figure it, I'm wasting my time doing nothing all day. So if this is a waste of time, at least I haven't wasted any more time than I would have if I wasn't writing it. And this way, at least I'm keeping busy and doing something interesting. Hopefully something will come of it.

Anyways, I'm off to read some more fan fiction and then work on my world some more. Seriously, I have so many ideas for it that I've been barely sleeping, just writing and researching and editing for it. It's pretty insane. I haven't even had time to talk to anyone, I've been so single-minded. I figured this was a good way to take a quick break from my story and update everyone at once so they don't think I've died. Well, everyone who reads this. I'm not sure who does, but if you do, now you know why I don't call.

Feel free to let me know if you have any ideas you want me to use, or some great character you want to see in it. Or maybe some names?? I'd appreciate those. Lots of those. Or if you feel you are an expert on the middle ages, magic, fantasy, or writing. I'm also looking for someone to bounce ideas off of, get some feedback, read what I write and let me know what they think. So if you fit that, feel free to volunteer your services.

And here is a question to ponder: if some elves have been twisted into something evil, and have been this way for thousands of years now, are they considered a different race?? And can they but rebel and be good, or are they doomed to be evil until they die??

Also, I'm currently obsessed with a Black Eyed Peas song, "I Gotta Feeling," and a Beyonce song, "Halo." Yes, I know, hell has frozen over. I'm as shocked as you are.

Okay, off now. Bye bye.
