Blogging challenge: first love and kiss

So I decided to go back and continue answering the questions I'd set up in the blogging challenge that I started forever ago. I can't even remember what's on there, so it'll be like a surprise question for me and a fun answer for you! I'll also update the reading challenge, I think, to see if I can get some of those done.

Anyways, on with the challenge!

9. Discuss your first love and first kiss.

Wow, okay, this takes me waaay back.  So my first kiss was when I was 12. It was after my first date, where I went to a movie with my date and a few friends. After the movie, while we were waiting to be picked up, he kissed me. It really wasn't all that great, because, you know, we were 12. It really wasn't anything crazy or super special, but I do still remember it.

As for my first love, well, I'd have to say that depends on what you mean by love.  I was head over heels in what I believed to be love when I was about 14. He was a friend, and I always regretted that there was nothing more, even when he tried to initiate it. I was too shy and afraid that it would all go wrong, as most things seemed to go in my life. But even now, I still remember the warm, fuzzy feeling I got for him and remember spending time with him fondly.

My first actual love was when I was 19. I dated someone for four years, and I most definitely loved him. Obviously, that didn't last forever, but it's been a long time since it ended, so it's not something I've thought about in a while. Either way, I'm pretty sure that technically, this would be my first love. The one at 14 was like, puppy love or infatuation or something like that.

And I'm back!! Well, hopefully.

Ah, updates.  How I fail at them!!

So it's been a few months since I wrote on here, and I've decided I need to go back to writing and sharing my wonderful and oh-so-important opinion with you all.  But first, an update on my life!!

Let's try to do this quickly, shall we??

Health: Okay now.  I threw out my back and then had the flu, but I seem to be in okay working order now.  Joined a gym (which had to be put in hold by the aforementioned health issues), but I'll be getting back into that in the next few days.  I've even convinced Jenn to join!!  Maybe we'll do some yoga??  I hear that's good for your back.

Work: None.  I was on contract, and they ended it (rather abruptly, if you ask me!!), so I'm back to looking.  I'm gonna try and find something writing related, although I'll be applying for admin too.  I do not want to be unemployed for longer than a week.  Or maybe two, since next week I need a day off.  But after that...work!!

Living Space: I'm still at my mom's.  I'm trying to be smarter this time and wait until I have a stable, full time, permanent job before I move.  Sadly, that seems to be impossible for me to find.  But once I do, I'm totally moving out!! Hopefully somewhere in Mississauga.  And if not, somewhere near a highway so people will visit me.

Family: Gaby's off at McMaster, doing first year humanities, and Nelson's back Humber doing Network Engineering Technologist (I think??).  I'm super happy for them.  Jose and I haven't killed each other yet, so I'd say it's a success!!  And my mom's happy and doing her thing with Aidan in Burlington.

School: I'm taking law classes at George Brown.  I was thinking paralegal, but I've been advised that what I want to be (according to the image in my head) is a law clerk.  So I'm gonna look into that.

Love:  Matt and I are currently not together.  It's pretty much my fault, and honestly, I'm not sure yet what the right decision is.  It's been 3 days and I already miss him so much.

Life: Lots of partying.  I've been to at least one party every weekend for the last two months.  This Friday, there's a wedding (yeah for open bar and then hotel party!!) and then there's still a club bday, a house party bday, an open bar and 3-course meal bday, the Xmas dinner, the New Year's Burlesque Ball, and Malanka.  I'm sure there's other stuff I'm missing, but that's what I can think of for the next two months.  So yeah, there's been some good times had, and there's still more great times to come!!

Travel: None recently.  I do want to, though.  I think next weekend we're planning a day in the states, so at least I get to use my brand spanking new passport and leave the country.  I know there's talk of getting a group and planning a week-long trip to somewhere, so hopefully next year we can do that.  I'd also like to go to El Salvador, if I get the chance.  Maybe for Easter?? I know they get a week off around that time. And for mine and Jenn's bday we'll hopefully do Vegas!!

So there you go.  Now you're caught up in my life and everything.  I can't promise I'll update anytime soon, 'cause, well, you know me.  I'm not good at updates.  Or keeping to schedule or being on time or anything like that.

So I guess you'll just have to keep checking!!

A trip home?? So exciting!!

So my cousin is getting married in November, and I'm super happy for him.   I'm also happy that he gave me advance notice, and hopefully I'll be able to go.

Now, I haven't as of yet been able to find a job, so I'm running short on time for saving. I'm still hopeful, though, that if I get a job soon, make a budget, and stick to it, I'll be able to go with no problem.  I know, I know.  A budget.  But in the end, if I really want to go, and I really want to be there for his day, then I'll make it happen.  I've always said I'll be there for it, and I'll do whatever I need to make it happen.

Happily, Matt has agreed to come with me.  I'm super excited to show him around and introduce him to all the people I love and miss.  I'm also super excited to take him to the beach and show him my favourite place in the world.  Los Cobanos is my little piece of heaven.

I'm not sure yet where we'll be staying.  I want to go for a little longer than a week, that way I can spend some time with my cousin before he gets married and goes on his honeymoon.  So I'm thinking we can fly in on the Wednesday or Thursday before the wedding, and stay at my aunt's until Sunday.  After that, I'm not sure if we should find a hotel in San Salvador, or even just stay at my aunt's, so we could have her drive us and go sightseeing and stuff every day, or go stay at the Royal Decameron Salinitas, which is the all-inclusive resort on the beach I love so much.  The only problem with staying at that hotel would be that it's too far for my aunt to drive us every day, so we'd have to either pay for hotel tours or only go sightseeing maybe three days.  I guess I'll have to figure it out with Matt and my aunt closer to the actual date.

But there are a bunch of places I want to show him!!  I want to go see el volcan de Santa Ana, and hopefully try and go to the crater.  I read that it should be done with a police escort, but those can be arranged the day before.  I also want to go to el lago Coatepeque, and maybe go to Illobasco.  I also want him to be able to walk around the little towns, 'cause they're totally different than walking around the city here.  And of course, I want to take him to a pupuseria and to Los Cebollines and the restaurant in Punta Roca.  I'm just not sure what's safe and what's not.  I figure if my aunt says it's not safe, I'll call my cousins (on my dad's side) and see if maybe they can help.

I do plan on calling the Silvas and trying to meet up with all of them.  I assume my dad will be there, since they'll prolly invite the whole family.  I'm okay with that, 'cause I want to see my brothers.  I'm hoping they can put something together.  I just don't want to see them on the 11th, because as petty as it may sound, that's my dad's bday, and I don't want to it to seem like I'm there for his day.  Unfortunately, though, that might be the best day to do it.  I guess I'll figure that out when I call them, which I don't plan to do until I know for sure when I'll be there.

I'm so excited!!  I'm gonna have some mango cumbia, and some chancletas, and some maraƱones and jocotes.  And some atol de elote.  And some tartaritas!!

Yeah, beyond excited.  I love the things my country has to offer.  Food is awesome, and the places are great.  And it helps that I have family there.

Of course, Matt's not happy that it's the second most dangerous country in the world.  Yeah, apparently, it has more deaths per 100,000 people than most African countries.  That's freaking crazy!!  But since most of those deaths are gang-related and not directed at tourists, I'm thinking we'll be okay.  I think as long as we stay out of dangerous neighbourhoods, we should be okay.

But yes, excited.  I'm hopeful that everything will, for once, go according to plan and work out.  so I guess I'll keep you updated.

And is it weird that after living in Canada for almost 20 years, I still say that I'm going 'back home' or just say 'home' when I refer to El Salvador??  Home is clearly in Canada...

I'm alive!!!!

So finally I get around to updating.  I guess it's been enough months that my internal screaming voice is saying, "Hey, remember that other blog you write??  Yeah, that one.  Go update it!!"

So here I am, updating.  And I guess I do have a few things to update about.

So let's start with the basics: I am currently unemployed.  RBC decided to not renew my contract, and so I've been searching for something new for a while now.  Hopefully something will come soon, 'cause I'm getting really worried.  And I can only handle so much stress in my life!!  I should prolly be sending out more resumes every day than I am now, though.  I guess I'll work on that.  And maybe call some agencies again.  And if anyone knows of something new, let me know!!

I'm still living at my mom's.  Clearly.  It's not really likely that I'll be moving out anytime soon, especially now that I'm unemployed.  I'm hoping to find a steady, non-contract job soon, and move out once I've been there for at least four months.  Maybe five.  I love my family, but I miss having my own place.

Matt and I are doing pretty well.  We try to see each other at least two days a week.  I'm glad I've got him, he makes me happy.  Plus, I like hugging him.  And waking up next to him.  I like it better on the weekends, when no one has to rush anywhere, but still.  I love it.  I've invited him to come with me to El Salvador in November for my cousin's wedding, and I'm really hopeful he'll be able to come.  I'd love to show him my favourite places.  I'm also hoping we can go camping this summer again.  Maybe a long weekend at Bruce Peninsula National Park??  That would definitely make me happy.

I've also been doing some research into El Salvador and the civil war...but that will have to be a different post.  I don't really want to get into it now.

So I've spent my time lately with my new blog, "Since You Asked..." which is on Wordpress.  I like writing that one a lot.  It's basically just my opinion on anything I can think of, but it's not about my life, like this one.

I've realized recently that this thing I do, where I get bored and move on to a new blog, is just hurting any possible readership I may have.  I've had tons of blogs in the last few years.  This one is the only constant one, and I don't even update it regularly.  I really should get on that, so that people will know where to follow me.  I mean, as of right now, none of my friends follow my new blog.  Even my boyfriend doesn't read it!!

Then again, I have no idea who reads this one either.  Does anyone??  I'm not sure.

Still, more updating should be done.

I turned even older about two weeks ago.  Yes, I turned 28.  That's ancient!!  It was a fairly low-key affair, with only a few friends and family.  We had Mexican food and I spent the weekend with Matt.  Overall, it was an okay birthday.  Next year, I'm thinking Vegas.  Or maybe Montreal.  Or maybe just dinner.  I guess I'll see when it gets closer.

I'm okay with my age.  I'm more upset with the fact that I'm 28 and I haven't gotten anywhere remotely stable or independent or anything.  It's kinda sad.  Hopefully by 29 I'll be an adult??  I'll do my best.

Oh, and I got rid of Facebook.  I just didn't want it anymore.  If you really want to know why, you can read the explanation on my other blog here.  Suffice to say, I don't plan on getting it back anytime soon.

I think I'm done now.  I should be sleeping anyways.  I'll try to update in a few days with my thoughts on El Salvador.

Okay, nighty night.

Neeeeed rum!! But still, happy week overall.

So it's been a month, and I thought I'd stop by and say hello. So I guess it's time to update yet again?? Not much has happened, really, but I guess I should start.

So the Toronto Star was looking for people to be bloggers for the provincial election. Every blogger would get a riding, and cover all issues for that riding. They'd do at least one story a week, and three the week of the election. I figured I had nothing to lose, so I filled out the application and sent it off. That was two weeks ago.

And then yesterday they got back to me. And I got it!! I'm super excited!! I know it's not paid, and it's not really a regular writing job, but still, I got it!! They're gonna have a page for each blogger, with picture, bio, and links to all posts. And all the posts will be up on their site!! And possibly in the newspaper!! I am seriously excited. I need to find a way to use this a step towards more news writing and jobs.

For my regular, paid work, I'm still at RBC. They keep extending my contract, which makes me happy. I'm hoping they decide to turn it into a permanent, full-time position. I guess for now I'll just keep my fingers crossed.

I was supposed to go camping this weekend, just Matt and I, but sadly, we can't go. I can't say I'm not upset, 'cause I am, but I know it's not Matt's fault. I was just so looking forward to NOT being here this weekend, it's kinda hard to be happy that plans are cancelled. But Matt has to work, so here I stay. But we are planning to reschedule it, and I'm super happy that he's agreed to go to Tobermory that weekend. I love it up there. It'll be uber cold, but it's too pretty to not go there. Maybe I can find someone with a portable generator?? Or maybe, if you're the one who has mine (it went missing), you can give it back to me!! I'd appreciate it.

So this weekend instead I'm going to the Canada vs. St Lucia world cup qualifier, and I'm kinda excited. You know, I've been to quite a few games this year, for someone who doesn't like sports. But I'm excited. Also, I plan to include rum. Lots of rum. I really have been wanting some lately. I'll settle for tequila, too :)

I'm also planning to bring down all the furniture in the room and bring all of mine up. Also, paint the room. I'm thinking brown with pink (or maybe teal) accents. Also, poem on the wall. I'm gonna put the Riddle of Strider (yes, I am a nerd). It's gonna look awesome. Hopefully.

I'm also hoping to maybe work on my writing. I need to do something with it. I have to decide if my love of writing and blogging will ever win over my love of lazy. My soccer blog could be so good, if I wasn't lazy. I also started another one, but I don't want to put it up here. Maybe once it has a few ppl following it I'll do it. Maybe. Also, my story needs working on. I'll never get better, or get anywhere, if I don't work on it!! Must get on that.

And for those who'd like to know, Nelson got into school for January. He's going to Humber, for something computer-related. Network technician?? Maybe. Either way, it's super news and I'm uber happy for him!! So if you see/talk/BBM/msg/text/stalk/whatever him, tell him congrats!!

Wow, that was more than I planned to write. So I think I'm done. Also, I'm at work, so I should really be focusing on that. And I still have to come up for a title for this shit!! Ugh. Why is life so hard??

If I wrote more often, I could come up with better titles than "an update".

So it's been a while since I wrote, and it's time for yet another super quick update. That's all this blog seems to have, sporadic updates.

So what's new?? Lots. Will I mention it all?? Nope, that's too much work. So we'll do a point-form sorta update.

Work: I'm at RBC. Still on contract, but so far they keep extending it. Keep your fingers crossed that they keep me!! I don't work at a branch, it's an office position at one of their many head offices. As of January, my position will be part of the IT department, which is weird, and I'll be in a building in front of the CN Tower. It's gonna be awesome!! I like the ppl I work with, too. They're pretty cool. I think it's time we did dinner and drinks again!!

Living Space: I'm back at my mom's. I suck. I don't know when I'll move back out. I hate that I'm 27 and still living at home. Why must I fail at everything??

Health: I've gained weight again. Sadly, I'm gonna HAVE to start going to the gym again. I hate it, but it must be done. And I'll have to go back on the diet too. Once again, why must I fail at everything????

Love: I'm still with Matt. He's still awesome. I'm still happy. :) I think things are going great. If they're not, well, feel free to let me know, Matt!!

Family: We don't hate each other. We even all went to the beach, just us siblings. And Gaby's bf. And no one died!! My mom is seeing a new guy. He's pretty cool, and he makers her very happy. So I'm super happy for her.

Friends: Still don't see most of them too often. I've now got like 4 different groups of friends, and making time to see them all, separately, is hard!! But I am seeing the Latin crew this weekend, and then I'm going to a party with some people I haven't seen in years. Some since high school!! It's gonna be awesome!!

Money: Need more. Spend too much. Have to learn to save. Still suck at managing.

So there you go. Updated. I would promise to try harder to update or tell you that I'll update soon...but I'd be lying. So let's just be honest: I'll update again in six months.

Okie, bye bye.

Ewww, I'm turning old tomorrow!!

So I guess it's time I update everyone on my life. It's been a while since I wrote a non-30 Days of Truth post. Although I should prolly get back on track with those posts too.

So, work. I am, once again, unemployed. The last place I was working, Vengeo, was an interesting place, with a program that i do actually like, but not the best work environment for me. There was a lot to be done, and I was fulfilling like 4 roles. Although I did enjoy writing the news release and the newsletter and all the PR stuff, it's prolly for the best that I'm not there anymore. I do miss my laptop, though.

And so I'm looking for a new job. I'm hoping to find something in the media field, preferably with writing or editing or something like that involved. I'd love to be able to write for a living. So everyone should just keep their fingers crossed. Also, if you see something you think I'd be great in, please let me know!!

I'm still living with Benny, and it's still going pretty well. I've met a bunch of her Latvians, and they're pretty awesome. Although I don't agree with her insistence that I need to leave my boyfriend for a Latvian guy, I do agree that they're pretty awesome. And good looking. Living downtown is still pretty awesome, and I'm getting the hang of being able to wander around and find almost anything to eat or buy or see or do. And my apartment, although haunted, is still great. It's more homey now, since we have blinds and curtains and a slightly bigger TV.

Matt and I are doing okay. Things after New Year's were a bit iffy, and we didn't see each other for like two weeks. He was off in Montreal, and I did something that, even unintentional, was not cool. But we've talked, and I think we're doing pretty good now. I'm trying to be more open and to talk to him about things instead of wallowing and shutting him out. It's hard, but I'm really trying. Also, I'm trying to be less of a bitch and more upbeat. It's not easy, since I feel bitchy and moody and down are my natural states, but you know, I'm trying.

Things are good health-wise, except for my crazy allergies. I've been told I have to have an allergy shot every week, which sucks, but hopefully it'll make the crazy itching stop. I'm gonna scratch my skin off soon!! I ordered the serum, but sadly, it takes sic weeks to get here, and it's only been like three. I really hope it comes soon.

So I turn 27 tomorrow. I'm not gonna lie, that's pretty old. Where did time go?? It doesn't seem like it was that long ago that I was 19 and thinking I had years before I had to be an adult. And it kinda sucks, 'cause I look on facebook and see people getting married, having kids, and buying houses, and being adults, and I feel like I'm no where near that stage in my life. But I guess everyone hits that at different times?? Regardless, I hope soon I can be one of the adults, settled into a career and working towards a home and a family. I don't even know if I want kids, but still, I want to get to the stage where that is an option.

Ugh, I think I'm just getting old. At least my party will be fun times!! At least, I hope it will be.

Anyways, that's my update for now. Maybe you'll get one in another few months?? But don't worry, at least you'll get a few more 30 Days of Truth updates soon!!
